Our Commitment to Safety and Transparency
Job’s Daughters Queensland is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all members, families, and volunteers.
We value openness and transparency in the way we operate and are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of care and integrity.
To meet our legal and ethical responsibilities-and to give families confidence in our practices-
we make our key governance and safeguarding documents publicly available:
-
Safeguarding Policy – outlines our zero-tolerance approach to harm and the actions we take to ensure the wellbeing of every young person.
-
Risk Management Strategy & Statement of Commitment – details how we identify and manage risks and reaffirm our ongoing promise to prioritise safety, equity, and accountability.
-
Privacy Policy – explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information in accordance with Queensland and Australian privacy laws.
Together, these documents reflect our dedication to child safety, responsible governance, and respect for every individual in our community.
Statement of Committment
Job's Daughters Queensland adopts and upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (2025) to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children and young people in our care.
Our commitment to safeguarding is guided by the following principles:
1. Leadership, Governance, and Culture
Child safety is embedded in our organisational leadership. The JGC Executive, Jurisdictional Guardians, and Supreme Deputy ensure safeguarding is a standing agenda item. Leaders model safe, respectful behaviour and are accountable for maintaining a child-safe culture.
2. Participation and Empowerment of Young People
Daughters receive annual youth safeguarding training (minimum 70% participation). They are encouraged to share ideas, raise concerns, and contribute to decision-making in age-appropriate ways.
3. Family and Community Involvement
Parents and guardians are provided with safeguarding information and reporting procedures. Families are welcomed to participate in events and discussions that affect their child’s safety and wellbeing.
4. Equity and Respect for Diversity
We foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and cultural safety, with zero tolerance for discrimination. Programs and events are adapted to meet the diverse needs of members and families.
5. Suitability and Support of Volunteers
All adult volunteers aged 20+ must hold a valid Blue Card and current Certified Adult Volunteer (CAV) status before supervising or chaperoning. References and screening processes are completed prior to appointment.
6. Training and Awareness
All adult volunteers complete JDI CAV training and a safeguarding induction. Youth members complete annual safeguarding training to strengthen awareness of their rights, safe behaviours, and reporting pathways.
7. Child-Focused Complaint Processes
All concerns are taken seriously, acted on promptly, and handled respectfully. Children are supported in making complaints, and reporting options are age-appropriate and accessible.
8. Reporting Obligations
Adults are trained in reporting procedures under Queensland law, Blue Card requirements, and the JDI Youth Protection Policy. Reports are escalated to the JGC Executive and Supreme Deputy as required.
9. Preventing Harm Through Risk Management
Risk assessments are conducted for all Job’s Daughters Queensland events and activities, including online engagement. Identified risks are mitigated, monitored, and reviewed regularly.
10. Safe Physical and Online Environments
All online engagement follows JDI social media and safeguarding policies. In-person events follow Blue Card and JGC supervision rules. Members are educated on safe online practices.
11. Continuous Review and Improvement
This policy is reviewed annually by the JGC Executive and Supreme Deputy. Feedback is sought from members, families, and volunteers to inform ongoing improvement.
